At Sharp-Rock, preventive performance LCM such as InstanShield is designed and manufactured to have a highly efficient and reliable sealing performance and the performance can be quantified with its sealign width and sealing weight. With such a high sealing efficiency, fractures can be sealed with little invasion and less LCM so that a weak wellbore can be much stronger and stabler, even with drillstring moving up and down frequently. Furthermore, the minimum concentration can be defined with our patent pending wellbore strengthening method - Seal2Strengthen. Other two preventive performance LCM are BaraShield-663 and BaraShield-664.
Our unique preventive performance LCM are characterized with two performance parameters - sealing width W and sealing weight G. The two parameters enable a fluid to achieve a desired spurt control easily even at a rigsite by changing its concentration only.
Enabled by the preventive performance LCM, and not like any other wellbore strengthening method, our patent pending Seal2Strengthen wellbore strengthening approach is so simple. With the method, it first defines a minimum concentration of one of the three preventive performance LCM (InstanShield, BaraShield-663 and BaraShield-664) and the necessary spurt loss control level. Then at a rigsite, maintain the minimum concentration by routinely testing the spurt loss during drilling.
The technology can be an excellent alternative for eliminating a casing string when a depleted formation is to be drilled through. Other typical applications may include deepwater drilling, naturally fractured formations and long shale lateral drilling during either drilling or cementing where a narrow mud weight window is a concern.
Conventional LCM (lost circulation materials) without a good design may temporarily stop mud losses into a fracture by, inside the wellbore, forming a large pile of LCM particles that soon is removed by drillstring resulting in mud losses again.

Sponge-Sweep LCM
Reticulated foam enhanced fast sealing particulate LCM has a hard-to-surpass performance that it can seal quite wide fractures with small particles. Furthermore, it can be applied to sweep across an entire openhole wellbore to seal off fractures without knowing the exact fracture locations. Just mix it with mud and pump to sweep the openhole after loss is seen.

BaraBlend-665
A reticulated enhanced high fluid loss sealing pill is designed to seal small to large fractures to hold high pressure.
When needed, it could be used to seal off the entire wellbore and to hold a large pressure differential.
InstanShield (Fine)
BaraShield-663 (Medium)
BaraShield-664 (Coarse)
These performance quantified low invasion particulate LCM can be individually applied to mud before drilling into a weak zone to prevent mud losses.
They can also be applied to cement spacer to ensure TOC on target.
BaraLock-666.C (~1 inch)
BaraLock-666.M (~10 mm)
BaraLock-666.C (~3 mm)
These are reticulated foam in different sizes to be selected based on the estimated size of a fracture and to be added to particulate LCM for a substantially enhanced sealing capacity.
